Steve Jobs: 1955 - 2011

The world mourns today the death of Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple, Inc., after succumbing to a rare pancreatic cancer. He resigned last Aug saying that "I have always say that if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come."

The leaders of the world such as Pres. Obama to movers of the world, the likes of Bills Gates, Mark Zuckerberg , Rupert Murdoch to name a few, responded with grief for the world has lost a great man but at the same time honor for the world has given us a man that inspired to be who you want to be. There were also websites that updated their page in memory of the man whom most of us now see as a visionary hero. Below are the sites:

Apart from his amazing contribution in the advancement of technology he also left a legacy that gave hope. He was left for adoption as a kid, dropped out of college to pursue what he wanted to do - build Apple PC, ousted once in Apple, Inc. but was able to radically changed the lives of each of us and the world.

Below are some of the memorable quotes he made:
“Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me … Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful… that’s what matters to me.”
[The Wall Street Journal, May 25, 1993]

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”

[Stanford commencement speech, June 2005]

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.”

[Stanford commencement speech, June 2005]

”Don’t waste [your life] living someone else’s....Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice.”

[Stanford commencement speech, June 2005]

“I think if you do something and it turns out pretty good, then you should go do something else wonderful, not dwell on it for too long. Just figure out what’s next.”

[NBC Nightly News, May 2006]

And my favorite: "If today were the last day of my life, would I do what I'm about to do today?"
